Sue Monhait is bringing her love of the gift business to the podcasting space with her podcast Gift Biz Unwrapped. Each week Sue discusses the issues and opportunities facing business owners in the gifting, baking, crafting, and design space.  

What is Gift Biz Unwrapped?

Gift Biz Unwrapped is a podcast where Sue brings on industry leaders to discuss issues and opportunities within the gift business niche. Sue saw an opportunity to create a podcast after attending trade shows and conferences with her other company, The Ribbon Print Company. She kept hearing the same questions from hobby crafters and bakers asking how they could take their passions and turn it into a business. While they may know about how to be great at the hobby of this niche the business aspect was lacking in content.

The podcast was created to help these individuals learn the business side of their hobby to transition to a business mindset.

In order to ensure she’s providing the best value, Sue is particular about her guests for her audience. They must provide value to her audience.

What’s in Your Podcast Recording Kit?

Sue uses a PC to record her podcast because it is also what she uses for software for her other company.

• She records using Adobe Audition with two tracks for editing
• She records her interviews using Talk Helper over Skype
• Her microphone is an Audiotechnica 2100
• She started out editing her own podcasts but now uses a virtual assistant from the Philipines

The “secret tip” Sue wants all new podcasters to know

Set up a system that you use each and every time. From initial contract with a guest, all the way through to the final thank you after the show goes live. This includes emails, receipt of information like headshots and intros, social media . . . everything. Sue uses an Excel spreadsheet to make sure her team has done every step.
