Apple Podcasts Steep Decline and Holiday Hours

This morning podcasters on the Apple Podcasts system got an email from Apple stating that their reporting in their Podcast Analytics service is experiencing a “steep decline” and not congruent with playback numbers.

It’s not clear where the reports are coming from, or where the reporting differs from the Podcast Analytics numbers. Podcast Analytics numbers can be seen at podcastsconnect.apple.com. If you’re experiencing a difference, please comment below!

Apple shared their holiday submission timing for new shows in the email as well. Around the holidays, podcast submission is very, very high and as a result, approvals in Apple Podcasts slows down. So if you are planning a release of a NEW show around this time, plan for a delay. The delay will be longer than their “5 business days’ standard, but those of us who have submitted shows before know that it usually takes less time than that during the rest of the year.

Shows that are already launched and running will not experience any type of delay.

Please let us know below if the above have affected your plans!
